Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the SteadySky application (the "App") handles data. The App is designed to work mostly offline and with respect for your privacy: we do not collect, store, or transmit personal data to our servers, for the simple reason that the App has no servers of its own.

1. Location Data (GPS)

The App requests access to precise and approximate location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION) and uses a foreground service to show your real-time position on the map during a flight and for tracking features.

• Your precise location is processed exclusively on your device.
• It is not sent, shared, or uploaded to the developer or any third party. The only exception is an approximate position (rounded to about 1 km) that may be sent anonymously to the Open-Meteo weather service to estimate the outside air temperature — see Section 2.
• Maps are offline: displaying your position requires no external transmission.
• You can revoke the location permission at any time in your Android settings.

2. Internet Connection and Third-Party Services

The App connects to the Internet only for the Turbulence/Weather section, querying the following public and free third-party services anonymously and without API keys:

• Open-Meteo — weather and turbulence data.
• OpenSky Network (anonymous access) — air traffic data.
• Aviation Weather Center (AWC) — aviation weather reports.

These requests may include geographic parameters (e.g., an area of interest, airport coordinates) needed to obtain weather data, but they do not include personal identifiers, accounts, or data that directly identifies you. Data processing by these services is governed by their respective privacy policies.

To estimate the outside air temperature, the App may also send an approximate location (rounded to about 1 km) to the Open-Meteo weather service. The request is anonymous, contains no identifiers, is not stored by the App, and is not linked to you. No other location data ever leaves the device.

3. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

The App offers a "Pro" subscription through Google Play Billing. Transactions and related payment data are handled entirely by Google; the developer does not receive or store your card or payment method details. Google's Privacy Policy applies.

4. Data Stored Locally

Settings, preferences, and operational data (e.g., the airport database, downloaded maps, subscription status) are saved only on your device. Uninstalling the App removes this data.

5. Notifications

The App may send local notifications (e.g., tracking status). Notifications are generated on the device and do not involve the collection of personal data.

6. Children's Data

The App is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

7. Security

Because data stays on your device, its security depends on your Android device's protections (screen lock, operating system encryption).

8. Changes to This Policy

This Policy may be updated. Changes will be posted on this page along with the corresponding update date.
